In a city stricken by poverty-related issues, United Housing gives Memphis families the tools they need to overcome the barriers to homeowenrship and build wealth that will help to sustain their families and lives over the long term.
When Mid-South Food Bank Receiving Warehouse Manager Lamar Perry and his wife, Lakeva, purchased a home through United Housing, Inc., the transaction was an example of how financial education and down payment assistance can make the dream of homeownership come true. At United Housing's Homebuyer Education course, the Perrys learned all about their credit score, budget management and how to work with a lender. The down payment assistance from the Helping Homebuyers Program ensured safety and affordability in a neighborhood that would improve their childrens' lives. "We want our kids to grow up in a safe neighborhood and environment," says Perry.
Through our services clients improve their financial health. The volume and breadth of the activities supported by United Housing and our donors ensures substantial outcomes for the community.
